Mineral Makeup or Regular Makeup

Mineral Makeup or Regular Makeup?

When I talk to my friends and clients about makeup, most seem to be on a quest to find the perfect foundation!

Most of us women use makeup on daily basis, if not a tinted moisturiser or sunscreen but something that will protect our skin and make it appear more flawless and radiant than it actually is.

So what is the different between Mineral Makeup and Regular Makeup and what benefits does it have for our skin and appearance?

The common components of mineral makeup are titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and mica, which can also be found in other makeup products in varying percentages.

However, mineral makeup is commonly produced without classic irritants such as fragrances, binders, synthetic and chemical dyes, preservatives and mineral oil.

What this means any of those potential toxins that could get into the pores and aggravate the skin just aren’t there, making it the healthy option for makeup.

Mineral makeup is also non-comedogenic. This means that the skin can breathe and does not exacerbate existing conditions such as chronic dryness, acne or rosacea and eczema. It’s much less likely to cause a reaction in women with sensitive skin. And because it doesn’t contain silicones and oils, it won’t aggravate acne-prone skin.

Skin Care Benefits

Mineral makeup won’t take the place of your moisturizer or heavy duty sunscreen, but it does offer some excellent skin care benefits.

Since mineral foundation contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, the key broad-spectrum protectors from sun damage. It will provide a chemical free sun-screen that acts like mirrors on the skin to reflect the sun’s rays.

Many of us choose to forgo the greasy 30spf cream on our face daily because of the long term effects of clogging our pores. But this makeup allows the pores to breath and a uniform application of mineral makeup will provide some sun protection.

How it looks

As we get older, we can help but get fine lines and larger pores, the surface of the skin is warm and there fore, regular makeup containing mineral oils and other ingredients may often crease in theses small fine lines, exaggerating there appearance and making them look worse!

Natural minerals in the makeup are water resistant and “bond” to the skin, they won’t wash away, smear or “melt” when you sweat so they just look better for longer and do not cake on the skin.

Skin surgery and laser treatments are becoming more popular. The problem with this is the healing stage after procedure is finished. Many skincare professionals recommend using mineral makeup for post-procedure treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser resurfacing to not only effectively camouflage redness and bruising, but also to calm the skin.

Mineral foundation Testimony– Anne Smith says, “Sharon’s Mineral foundation has changed my life.  I had rosacea and acne as a teenager and wasn’t expecting to have it as an adult.  I had spent a fortune of makeup and cover sticks and everything seems to make my skin worse. There I was 33, pregnant with rosacea and acne! I met Sharon at a workshop and decided to try her foundation, within 3 weeks I could see a massive difference, my rosacea and acne were completely cleared up and my skin looked healthy.  I had the glow everyone talks about during pregnancy.  I would never go back to regular foundation ever again”.

Mineral makeup and professional application

One of the nicest things about mineral makeup is that it is just so dam versatile! I wear it everyday myself whether I’m heading out into the sun to play with my horses or if I’m doing some professional makeup education. The nice this is that it just stays put and yet feels so light.

Professionally I use it all the time and both clients and talent love it, I use it in Television and for Photo Shoots as well as for Special Events and Bridal Parties. It has a buildable coverage that is not cakey and blends beautifully.
